A Glimpse of Heaven

I recently borrowed a DVD full of Christian songs off my brother to add to the small collection I have. I scanned through them quite quickly to place some on my ipod. Today on the way to work I listened to some of the songs during the bus trip and for a moment I saw a glimpse of what heaven would be like.

Heaven's air will be filled with songs and choruses and choirs praising God. It'd be like walking down a superior architecturally designed chamber into a huge concert hall consumed with songs of praise and your heavenly skin will sense there is something magical in the air. The awe you are filled with will never cease, the excitement you will never tire of. It'd be like combining the sensation during Christmas season when choirs group in shopping malls, the city streets filled with talented musicians and a cultural festival celebrating harmony. However in heaven it will be a thousand times better and perfect.

Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in power, in love and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity.

A Call From Sydney

I got a missed call today when I came back from and outside (in Cambridge foodcourt) lunch break with Jim, Raymond, Dian and Seoul (?spelling). It was a Sydney number, returned the call saying "Hi I received a miss call from this number. My name is Jun Jet". The response from the receiving end "Who do you think it is". The volume was relatively low on my mobile and after cranking it up I realise it was Sundar! It was cool talking to him again. He's a good man. He was giving me tips about how to get more out of my work experience and who to talk to in the Alliance. Two guys in particular in the Environmental Team. I'm currently under the Civil Design Team. I think next week I will need to go out of "comfort" zone within the office walls and venture to their space.

GHD "Wild Wild West" Ball

The Yellow Table
Left-Right: Top row; Laurence (?spelling, Rick's friend), ---- (Rick? Dian?'s friend), Sundar (GHD, SGA Geotechinal), me.
Front row; Dian (GHD, SGA Geotechnical), Rick (Main Roads, Accounts), Jim (GHD, SGA Geotechnical), Raymond (GHD, SGA Drainage), Molly (Raymond's wife).
The quarter of a million dollar ball (as to what I heard) or $300/head, was held nearly 2 weeks ago, 9 June 2007, was one of it's kind. Last year's theme was a circus, and they literally had a mini circus set up with an act sometime during the ball. This year they had 2 live horses and a Cowboys vs. Indians skit, a production of GHD. Around the tables were props set up, and games such as a bucking bull, shooting at cans, Jail, Cemetary, Tee-pees, Gun House etc. It was a treat.
At the end of the ball I recognised a guy that Sat in the same Induction as me and then headed directly to GHD's regional Bunbury office the following day. I had forgotten his name but now I remember, Mark Sadowski. Originally from South Africa but previously working in Yemen.
The ball ended very soon then so we didn't a chance to chat much. I caught up with some of the crew at the Shed (Sook, Mon, Jacqui, Chung, Iara and Danny, and Danny's friends who were visiting Perth). It was another great night out. The cowboy hat I managed to get at the ball was a big hit with the crowd. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun with a hat?
Other occurances since then.
Mark was actually up in Perth for the week to deal with some clients for one of the jobs he was working on. We got in contact via email and caught up for a meal (at Uncle Billys, haha) after I finished work on Monday. I had no other time to meet him. It was a bit strange but I think he appreciated the gesture that I recognised him and acknowledged him at the ball too. One thing he said to me when we were walking back from dinner was he felt that we clicked. I would have felt very uncomfortable if it wasn't for the fact that he's engaged. But he continued saying that we meet different people during our lives for a reason and we are meant to learn something from them. Whether it be big or small. The first thing that came to my mind then was was I meant to tell him about Christ?
Sundar, in the photo was the guy I stalked first week at work to find the best route when walking from Glendalough train station. Since then we've become friends. He's left (last day was last Friday) the Alliance now and back in Sydney. The night before his departure, Dian, Sundar and I headed for drinks then dinner after work. We had snowcrab (half pepper chilli, half salted egg)! It was so good. Sundar paid which was very generous of him. Then we headed for one more drink at the Raffles on Canning Hwy by the river. Sundar was impressed that such a place existed in Perth and if he had known earlier he would have come more often prior to his departure. The final goodbye was lunch during work on Friday when most of the Geotechnical guys headed out to some pub/food place near the office. I went along too and met a few more Geotech guys and managed to place a name to a face and what they did in the office.
Quite a lot of staff movements are occuring.
Life in general is quite full at the moment.

Weekend Oddities

This weekend has been full of small incidents.

I'll mention the oddities.

I was woken up on Saturday night (technically Sunday morning) at 3.30am by a phone call. It's Jiz asking for a ride from Fremantle because of the long taxi line. Unfortunately for me at that time I was actually asleep. I went to pick him and his friend up anyway. It was a bit of a chuckle because the whole way home they would not stop baggin' each other out. The main retorts coming from his friend was the fact Jiz woke me up at 3.30am. By the time I got home, in the cold I examined the gifts Jiz gathered between his phone call and me arriving to Fremantle, I cracked up when I saw the "flowers" was a plant where he actually pulled out the entire small shrub which included its roots. Not wanting to dump it, I did a poor attempt of sticking it into the ground amongst other plants at the front of the house. Mum picked up on it today. His other gifts was a kids toy from a HJ's meal and "Norkfolk St" street sign. Currently it's hiding under my bed and I am contemplating whether to contact the Fremantle council to return it and mention that I "found it lying in the streets" of Freo, or a suburb close by. However I got a text from Jiz today saying thanks, to enjoy the road sign and to catch up after he returns from his work related trip to Melbourne. I wouldn't know what his reaction may be to discover I may have been faithful to the public service.

Tonight after church, I had a chat with one of the year 9 girl's mum. She ended up telling me a lot about her life stuff and ended up tearing. I felt odd/helpless as she left so abruptly to go home. She had to have a chat with her daughter because she wasn't doing so well at school etc. But that incident caught me off balance because I had no tissue to offer and didn't have time to decide if she needed a squeeze on the shoulder or a hug (which would have been awkward for me naturally as I'm a non-huggy type).

As for my spiritual walk, I feel so slow. I need to train harder and more diligently, pray and seek his spirit more so that it can stir mine.

Tribute to those studying for current exams

I realise that I take forever to post something new (and thinking I've recently post) because usually the post sits as a draft for weeks and I keep editing the same thing.

Moving onto a topic of a worthy website for good images is http://creative.gettyimages.com. I was looking for images related to the keyword "textbook" and check out what I stumbled across.

Doesn't this just remind you of an American TV sequel based on the lives of these friends, centered around a highschool or college?

Speaking of education, the image on the right reminds of me what everyone is probably feeling like during this exam period.

I wonder how I'll be taking it this time next year when I'm back at uni.
